Uploading purchase, dispensing and destruction records

Import your records from a CSV or Excel export, keyed by NDC.

Use Upload File to import purchases, dispensing or destructions from a CSV or Excel export. NarcCount checks each row and tells you how many it imported.

Columns

  • Purchases: Date, NDC, Quantity, Invoice (optional)
  • Dispensing: Date, NDC, Quantity, Rx (optional)
  • Destructions: Date, NDC, Quantity, Method (optional)

NDCs

  • Any printed form works, with or without dashes: 00406-0523-01 and 00406052301 are the same NDC.
  • A 10-digit NDC written with its dashes is read as the 11-digit NDC it stands for.
  • Leading zeros that Excel strips are put back.
  • Ten digits without dashes can be three different NDCs. NarcCount checks your drug list and the FDA's NDC Directory, and asks for the dashes if it still can't tell.

Formatting notes

  • Include a header row. Column names are not case-sensitive.
  • Dates may be YYYY-MM-DD, Mon DD, YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY.
  • Quantities may be decimals (for example, methadone 12.5).
  • Unknown NDCs are added to Drug Management automatically.

Where the files come from

Export them from your dispensing system or your wholesaler's ordering site. CSV templates for each record type are on the Upload File page. Another layout, a PDF or a photo? Upload it anyway; every file you upload is kept in Documents.
