Creating and completing a count
How to start a count, add the drugs you counted, and finalize it.
Start the count
Go to Counts → Start New Count. Give it a title (for example, “Narcotic Count — June 2026”) and the date you performed the count. The count date is important: it defines the end of the reconciliation window.
Add the items you counted
On the edit screen, add each drug by DIN and enter the quantity you counted. The drug name is optional — if the DIN is already in your list NarcCount keeps its saved name, and any new DIN is added to Drug Management automatically. You can also bulk-upload all counted values at once with Upload Count.
Review and finalize
Click View Reconciliation to see expected vs. counted for every drug. When you’re satisfied, finalize the count. Finalized counts become the baseline (“last count”) for the next reconciliation of each drug.
Tip
You only need to count the drugs you’re reconciling. Any drug not in the count simply carries its previous baseline forward until you count it again.
