Getting started with NarcCount
A two-minute tour of how NarcCount keeps your controlled-substance inventory reconciled.
NarcCount replaces the manual narcotic count book with an automated perpetual-inventory system. Instead of hand-tallying what you should have on hand, NarcCount calculates it for you from the records you already keep.
The four record types
- Counts — the physical quantities you count on the shelf.
- Purchases — controlled substances received into inventory.
- Dispensing — controlled substances dispensed to patients.
- Destructions — controlled substances destroyed or otherwise removed.
The reconciliation loop
Each time you complete a count, NarcCount compares your physical count to the expected on-hand it computed from the prior count plus everything purchased, dispensed, and destroyed in between. Any difference is a variance, flagged for you to investigate.
First steps
- Import your purchase, dispensing, and destruction history (Upload File), or connect your dispensing software export.
- Start a new count and enter the quantities you physically counted.
- Open the count to see the reconciliation, then export the report.
